Get Your Personal Primordial Sound Meditation Mantra for Free

In the tradition of Primordial Sound Meditation (PSM), as taught by Deepak Chopra, a personal mantra based on your time and place of birth is used. These personalized mantras consist of beej (seed) mantras that are calculated through your individual nakshatra-pada found in Vedic astrology. For every PSM mantra, the basis is "Om beej (seed) mantra Namah", where only the seed mantra changes.

For the sake of this demonstration, we're going to calculate the Primordial Sound Meditation mantra for a person born in New York City on October 7, 1960 at 11.06 p.m.

If you don't know your exact time of birth, according to PSM and Reiki teacher Lisa Guyman, the Chopra Center has you use 6:30 a.m. to calculate your personal mantra.

First step – Details of Your Time and Place of Birth

Visit Prokerala.com and enter your details for your time and place of birth in their Nakshatra calculator (screenshot):

Second step – Find Out Your Seed Mantra

After having entered your details, you find out that your Nakshatra is "Krithika", pada 2, and the first syllable (your seed mantra) "I":

Third step (Optional) – Read the Mantra Chart and Control Your Details

You can control your details by looking at the seed mantra chart at the site do-meditation.com:

Fourth and Final Step – Make Use of Your Seed Mantra and Put It All Together

In this final step, you'll take the first syllable, in this case "I", and put it in the middle of the mantra "Om seed mantra Namah", replacing the default text "seed mantra" with it. The syllable is always suffixed with an "m", so as a final step you add that letter to your first syllable.

That leaves us with the personalized PSM mantra "Om Im Namah".

How I Use the Mantra

I use my PSM mantra in conjunction with the Natural Stress Relief mantra technique, since I find this mantra more appealing for the moment, and I have also used the very first mantra taught in Transcendental Meditation in my practice. For me, it all comes down to personal preferences.
