The vector graphics editor Illustrator came out in '87 and made the job so much easier for designers, that prior to its release had to work with time-consuming and difficult techniques.

The short "The Adobe Illustrator Story" produced and edited by Ami Capen outlines the program's history and is wonderfully edited with archived magazine articles and TV segments, an absolute delight to watch.
